Abu Dhabi’s Driving and Vehicle Licensing Services Move to ITC

Abu Dhabi is shifting its driver and vehicle licensing systems from the Abu Dhabi Police to the Department of Municipality and Transport’s Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), the emirate’s transport regulator. The move aims to establish a unified and integrated transport licensing ecosystem in Abu Dhabi and improve the user experience.

The ITC already regulates most transport-related procedures and permits in the emirate, such as the public bus network, taxis, taxi franchisees, ride-sharing platforms, and heavy vehicle operations through the Asateel platform, the Darb road tolls, and the Mawaqif parking regulation system. The ITC will collaborate with the Abu Dhabi Police to ensure continuity of services while the shift is being implemented, and all services will remain available through existing licensing centers and digital channels until the transfer is complete. The move is part of a comprehensive plan to further develop Abu Dhabi’s transport sector and increase competitiveness in the local economy.
