The Moroccan Bath or “Hammam” is possibly the oldest therapeutic treatment in the world. Hammam is essentially a type of bathhouse. They were traditionally the social center of the community, offering a place for people to meet, talk, and relax in a public setting.

Modern Moroccan baths are typically more private, although public Hammams are still available in many towns and cities across North Africa.

Growing up in Morocco, going to the Hammam was part of my weekly routine. Every Saturday afternoon, I would start with my mother and aunts the pre-Hammam ritual, which involved preparing the ingredients and getting our hair and skin ready for Moroccan bath treatments.

Moroccan baths, also called Moroccan Hammams, are one of the best care treatments. In Morocco, women have a Moroccan bath every week. It’s a non-negotiable me-time that can take up to two hours.
